STUDIO RECEIVES 10 GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS

The Studio has received 10 Golden Globe Award nominations, including six for Warner Bros. Pictures, two for Warner Bros. Television and two for Warner Horizon Television. “Argo” was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director (Ben Affleck), Best Supporting Actor (Alan Arkin), Best Screenplay (Chris Terrio) and Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat); “Cloud Atlas” was nominated for Best Original Score (Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek, Reinhold Heil); “The Big Bang Theory” was nominated for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Jim Parsons); and “Political Animals” was nominated for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television and Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Sigourney Weaver). The Golden Globes are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and winners will be announced Monday, January 14.

WHV TO RELEASE “HARRY POTTER WIZARD’S COLLECTION” ON SEPTEMBER 5

Warner Home Video will release “Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection,” the largest-ever collector’s set in the Harry Potter franchise, on Wednesday, September 5. Packaged in an elaborate limited-edition giftbox, the “Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection” is a 31-disc collection that includes all eight movies in Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy, five hours of never-before-seen exclusive material, all previously released content and eight exclusive movie memorabilia items.

WBCP AUSTRALIA PARTNERS WITH FASHION DESIGNER PETER ALEXANDER

Warner Bros. Consumer Products Australia has entered into a partnership with one of Australia’s most renowned fashion designers, Peter Alexander. The agreement will see imagery from the classic 1939 “The Wizard of Oz” film included across a new range of sleepwear. The collection debuted in stores last week timed for the launch of the collectable Peter Alexander glossy catalogue on September 4.

WBTV GIVES AWAY UNPRECEDENTED TRIP TO SPACE AT COMIC-CON

At last weekend’s Comic-Con panel for “The Big Bang Theory,” Warner Bros. Television awarded one lucky fan a truly out-of-this-world trip to the outside of the Earth’s atmosphere on a suborbital spacecraft. In a surprise appearance, XCOR Chief Test Pilot and former NASA Astronaut Richard Searfoss announced the prize trip into space via the XCOR Aerospace’s Lynx RLV (Reusable Launch Vehicle), and presented it to winner Mercedes Becerra of California. Warner Home Video will release “The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Fifth Season” on Blu-ray™ and DVD October 3.

STUDIO NOMINATED FOR 28 PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS

Series from Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Television and Warner Bros. Animation have received 28 nominations for the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Nominees from Warner Bros. Television include “The Big Bang Theory,” nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, “2 Broke Girls,” “Childrens Hospital,” “Harry’s Law,” “The Middle,” “Mike and Molly,” “Person of Interest,” “Shameless,” “Southland” and “Two and a Half Men.” In addition, Warner Bros. Animation’s “MAD” and “The Looney Tunes Show” both received nominations. The Emmy Awards will be presented and broadcast live on September 24.

STUDIO DOMINATED COMIC-CON

Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Entertainment had a major presence at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego this past weekend. Warner Bros. Pictures hosted appearances by stars and filmmakers from some of the Studio’s most anticipated films, including “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Man of Steel” and “Pacific Rim.” In addition, stars from Warner Bros. In a partnership with Comic-Con, for the third consecutive year, fans who checked in at Comic-Con received a Warner Bros.-designed collectible bag highlighting one of the following titles: Warner Bros. WBDD TO LAUNCH WARNER PREMIERE’S “H+ THE DIGITAL SERIES” AUGUST 9

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution will launch the live-action web series “H+ The Digital Series” August 9 on YouTube. Created by Brian Singer and produced by Warner Premiere, Bad Hat Harry Productions and Dolphin Digital Entertainment, “H+ The Digital Series” takes viewers on an episodic, apocalyptic journey in which the human race is hardwired to the Internet and technology has gone horrifically wrong. “H+ The Digital Series” will also be shown at a special YouTube Comic-Con event in San Diego on July 14.

WBTV AND WHTV NOMINATED FOR TEEN CHOICE AWARDS

WBIE AND KADOKAWA GAMES RELEASE “LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW”

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Kadokawa Games have released “Lollipop Chainsaw,” an over-the-top action game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, led by Goichi Suda (SUDA51), the game follows the sweet, chainsaw-wielding zombie hunter Juliet Starling as she uncovers the root of a colossal zombie outbreak on her 18th birthday.

WARNER BROS. STUDIOS LEAVESDEN OPENS FOR BUSINESS

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, a state-of-the-art film and television studio outside of Watford, Hertfordshire, opened this week for business. Formerly the production home of all eight “Harry Potter” films, the US$155 million facility is the only film studio in the U.K. to be owned and operated by a major Hollywood studio, and the first of its kind to be built in the U.K. in 70 years. The Studio spans 200 acres and houses some of the largest sound stages in the country, including one of the largest heated underwater filming tanks in Europe, as well as a 100-acre backlot. Based on the same site is Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, a unique walking tour, which opened in March, and takes guests behind the scenes of the iconic Harry Potter movie series.

WBIE TO RELEASE “GUARDIANS OF MIDDLE-EARTH,” “SPY HUNTER” AND “INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US”

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment this week announced a number of upcoming projects, including “Guardians of Middle-earth,” “Spy Hunter” and “Injustice: Gods Among Us.” “Guardians” is a new multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Monolith Productions and featuring tie-ins to New Line Cinema and MGM’s upcoming theatrical release “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” “Spy Hunter” is a reboot of the legendary combat driving series, specially developed for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS by TT Fusion. And, “Injustice” in partnership with  DC Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios (creators of the “Mortal Kombat” franchise), is an all-new fighting game set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, with a deep, original story featuring a large cast of favorite DC Comics iconic characters. “Guardians” and “Spy Hunter” are scheduled for release this spring; “Injustice” is slated for a 2013 rollout.

WBIE TO RELEASE “HARRY POTTER FOR KINECT”

This spring, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eurocom will release the “Harry Potter for Kinect” videogame exclusively on Kinect for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Based on all eight Harry Potter films, “Harry Potter for Kinect” allows players to join Harry, Ron and Hermione as they embark on an unforgettable journey, and with Kinect’s scanning technology, for the first time ever in a Harry Potter game, players will be able to scan in their own face to create a unique witch or wizard.

WARNER BROS. PICTURES SETS STUDIO RECORD FOR FASTEST RISE TO US$1 BILLION AT THE OVERSEAS BOX OFFICE

Warner Bros. Pictures has surpassed the US$1 billion threshold in overseas box office in less than five months, surpassing its 2010 studio record by 10 days.  This marks the 12th consecutive year the division has grossed more than US$1 billion overseas, beginning in 2001, and the 15th time overall.  Among the films contributing to this record-setting success are “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (which carried over into 2012), “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” “Wrath of the Titans” and the recently released “Dark Shadows.”

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution has launched “Inside the Script,” a digital publishing initiative that gives movie fans an innovative new way to go deep inside their favorite films. WARNER BROS. PICTURES UNVEILS FOOTAGE FROM “THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY”

Warner Bros. Pictures screened approximately 10 minutes of never-before-seen footage from New Line Cinema and MGM’s upcoming epic “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” at last week's CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners. The footage showcased the filmmaking innovation of 48 frames-per-second (fps), doubling the typical frame rate of 24 fps. The film, slated for worldwide release beginning December 15 is the first major motion picture to be made using this state-of-the-art high-frame-rate technology.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products Australia has signed a licensing agreement with The Heat Group, a leading cosmetic and personal care distributor, to develop a wide range of Looney Tunes, DC Comics and Scooby-Doo-branded personal care products. Beginning later this year, branded bath and body washes, shampoos, conditioners and body fragrances will be available in supermarkets and other retailers across Australia.

WATERTOWER MUSIC’S “PROJECT X” SOUNDTRACK TOPS BILLBOARD’S SOUNDTRACK CHART

For the second consecutive week, WaterTower Music’s soundtrack to Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Project X” has charted as the week’s number one soundtrack in the U.S. as well as in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and France, according to Billboard Magazine. This continues WaterTower’s 2012 success, with the label having an album in the top five on the Billboard soundtrack chart eight of the first 11 weeks of the year, and having an album at number one for five of those weeks.

WARNER BROS. PICTURES TO PRODUCE “THE HANGOVER PART III”

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures are reteaming with Todd Phillips for “The Hangover Part III,” the third installment in the record-breaking comedy franchise, slated for release on May 25, 2013.  “The Hangover Part III” will star Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, who will reprise the roles of Phil, Stu and Alan, collectively known to moviegoers as “the Wolfpack.”  In the previous two films, the three friends’ attempts to plan a celebration have resulted in disaster, but led to a combined billion-dollar success at the worldwide box office.

WARNER BROS. PICTURES’ “JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND” SURPASSES US$275 MILLION WORLDWIDE

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” has earned over US$276.5 million in worldwide box office gross to date, and has held the number one spot in international box office for the past four weekends in a row. The film was a box-office winner in its international debut beginning January 20, and has outpaced 2008’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by earning more than US$190 million in 52 markets overseas, with some territories, including Japan, yet to release.

WARNER BROS. STUDIO TOUR LONDON UNVEILS SCALE MODEL OF HOGWARTS CASTLE

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter has revealed the grand finale of its tour – the scale model of Hogwarts castle. The jewel of film series’ art department, the model was originally crafted by 86 artists and crew members for the first film, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone,” and was rebuilt and altered many times over the next seven films. The model sits at nearly 50 feet in diameter and has over 2,500 fiber optic lights that have been programmed to replicate a day-to-night cycle every six minutes so that tour visitors can experience its full beauty. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter will open to the public on March 31.

WARNER BROS. FRANCE’S “THE ARTIST” WINS FIVE OSCARS

Last weekend, Warner Bros. France’s local production “The Artist” won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Original Score and Best Costume Design, making history as the Academy’s most-honored French film. “The Artist” is the first-ever French film to win a Best Picture Oscar, and Jean Dujardin is the first-ever French actor to win the Best Actor prize. In the same weekend, “The Artist” received six César Awards from the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role for Bérénice Bejo. “The Artist” is now the most acclaimed French film of all time, with more than 85 awards.

WARNER BROS. PICTURES WINS COSTUME DESIGNERS GUILD AWARD

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” has won the Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Fantasy Film (Jany Temime). Also honoured at the Awards were Clint Eastwood and costume designer Deborah Hopper, receiving a special Distinguished Collaborator Award for their 28 years of work together on 24 films, including Warner Bros. WBTV TO PRESENT AT WONDERCON 2012

Warner Bros. Television will debut new content and engage fans during panel sessions at this year’s WonderCon, the annual comic book, science fiction and motion picture convention in Orange County, California. WBTV will feature episodes of “The Secret Circle” and “Person of Interest” on the big screen on March 17, hold a presentation and panel session for Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment’s new programming block, “DC Nation,” on March 18 and offer panel sessions for both “Alcatraz” and “Fringe” on March 19.

WBCP AUSTRALIA PARTNERS WITH CHILDREN’S PUBLISHER ON DC COMICS-INSPIRED BOOKS

Warner Bros. Consumer Products Australia has signed a licensing agreement with Australia’s largest independent children’s publisher, Hardie Grant Egmont. The DC Super Friends and DC Super Heroes-themed books mark the first time the publisher has used super heroes in any of its books. Well known DC Comics characters, including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, will appear across a range of colour story, colouring and activity books aimed at children ages three and up. The DC Comics-inspired books will be available this June.

WBIE WINS THREE INTERACTIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment won three Interactive Achievement Awards for Game of the Year, including “Batman: Arkham City” for Adventure Game of the Year, “Mortal Kombat” for Fighting Game of the Year and “Bastion” for Downloadable Game of the Year. The awards, recognising the best video games, computer games, mobile entertainment as well as individual and team craft achievement, were presented by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences last week in Las Vegas.

NEW LINE’S “JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND” SURPASSES US$100 MILLION MARK

New Line Cinema’s “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” has delivered more than US$135 million in combined domestic and overseas box office to date. The film opened in North America on February 11, going on to earn a weekend box office total of US$27.3 million. That followed an international release, launched on January 20, which has taken in US$103 million to date, exceeding the success achieved by its popular predecessor, 2008’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” in many overseas markets. “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is also a major hit on IMAX screens around the world, with a strong box office performance of US$8.9 million and counting.

WARNER BROS. PICTURES EXTENDS DEAL WITH TODD PHILLIPS’ GREEN HAT FILMS

Warner Bros. Pictures has extended its first-look deal with writer/director/producer Todd Phillips’ Green Hat Films through the end of 2013. Phillips has been based at Warner Bros. since 2005, and his first three films under the initial deal, “The Hangover,” “Due Date” and “The Hangover Part II,” have generated more than $1.2 billion at the global box office. DC ENTERTAINMENT TO LAUNCH “BEFORE WATCHMEN”

This Winter, DC Entertainment will publish “Before Watchmen,” a mini-series composed of seven inter-connected prequels that will build on the foundation of the original “Watchmen,” the bestselling graphic novel of all time. “Before Watchmen” will feature a group of the comic book industry’s most iconoclastic writers and artists, with a new issue being released each week over the course of the series.

WBTV’S “GOSSIP GIRL” REACHES 100th EPISODE MILESTONE

Earlier this week, the 100th episode of Warner Bros. Television’s “Gossip Girl” aired on The CW in the United States. In its five seasons in production in New York City, the series has spent over $200 million on local development, used more than 500 local vendors and employed approximately 6,300 individuals both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Media and Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver visited the “Gossip Girl” set to congratulate the cast and crew and acknowledge the series’ contribution to the local economy.

NEW LINE AND WARNER BROS. PICTURES’ “JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND” SOARS OVERSEAS IN ADVANCE OF

New Line and Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” has already grossed $26.5 million from only eight markets, 76 percent ahead of 2008’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” at the same point in its release schedule in those territories. “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” opened nearly three weeks ago in Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, where the Chinese New Year holiday makes for prime moviegoing. It has also opened in here in Australia and New Zealand, where there are now summer holidays. The film will make its North American debut on February 10.

DC Entertainment, home to iconic brands DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD, has revealed a new brand identity reflective of the company’s mission to fully realise the value of a rich portfolio of brands, stories and characters, distinguished by incredible breadth and depth across publishing, media and merchandise.  The new brand identity will come to life across all consumer touch points to create a clear and consistent message in support of DC Entertainment and begin to appear on comic books, graphic novels and new websites in March. Over time, the new identity will be rolled out on other DC Entertainment products from Warner Bros., including films, television series, interactive games and merchandise.

STUDIO WINS 2012 PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS

Earlier this week, films and TV series from Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Television and Telepictures Productions won People’s Choice Awards. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” won three awards, including Favourite Movie.  “Supernatural” won two awards, and “Green Lantern,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “Person of Interest,” “2 Broke Girls,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” each took home an award.

WBIE and DC Entertainment ship over 4.6 Million copies of “Batman: Arkham City” worldwide

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have shipped more than 4.6 million units of the critically acclaimed videogame “Batman: Arkham City” worldwide since the game’s October 19 Australian launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. The first week sales figure for “Batman: Arkham City” is more than double the number of units sold of “Batman: Arkham Asylum” in the same time period and solidifies the game’s place as a contender for one of the top-selling titles of 2011. “Batman: Arkham City” currently stands as the highest reviewed PS3 and Xbox 360 game of 2011 on Metacritic.com.
